Gates' Epiphany by Tom McInerney and Paul Vallely

Gates' Epiphany
When President Obama announced his National Security Team of Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates and James Jones, we were a bit apprehensive. And that apprehension was, unfortunately, proven justified when Gates announced his 2010 budget on April 6, 2009.

The 2010 budget is so different from earlier budgets Defense Secretary Gates helped draft and push through Congress during the last Bush years that we had to wonder: did he have some sort of revelation in which it was revealed to him that the threats to the United States had been vastly reduced?

We should have suspected something was amiss when he made senior military leaders sign Non-Disclosure Agreements -- in effect a gag order -- so that the Service Chiefs could not discuss details of the coming budget with their staffs or even with Congress. The gag orders even reached to the service vice chiefs of staff who run the services on a daily basis. Gates -- who describes himself as the Secretary of War -- thus ensured that the Service Chiefs had to rely on their personal skills to convince him of their needs without the support of experts whose only reason for being is to provide analysis and advice to the service leaders.
This is a first time this has happened in our history, and it was a dramatic departure from his last two budgets. Again, what drove this epiphany?

Gates’ experience in the CIA was now being implemented to ensure, as he said, that eaks could not be sent to the Hill before he wanted them to be. It became even more apparent to us why the former Secretary of the Air Force, Mike Wynne, and Chief of Staff Buzz Moseley had to go, because both were skilled, knowledgeable infighters who had dominated the last QDR (Quadrennial Defense Review).

Since Gates was using the Air Force budget as a pot of money to pay other services’ bills, he had to change out the more experienced team for one that might be more accommodating.

When the 2010 budget was announced during the Easter recess with the Congress out of town, the average citizen and congressman did not realize that this was the most dangerous budget since the end of World War II. It decimates our Air Force, freezes our long range Missile Defense capability, scales down our naval strike forces and the Army’s future mobility capabilities without the normal analysis. All we have is Gates’ back-of-the-envelope calculations.

The American people need to know that fact. Before any military realignment is undertaken -- and, as required by law -- the Defense Department conducts a deep-impact analysis of the threats facing America and the weapon systems and manpower needed to deter or defeat them. This is called -- again, in the law that requires it -- the “Quadrennial Defense Review.”

But the 2009 QDR wasn’t even begun when Gates announced his actions which make the new QDR irrelevant. What was even more surprising was that this budget was not coordinated with the services for military advice prior, which again was a first. The normal expertise and clear analytical justification built into the budget system was missing completely. By Gates' own admission, he did not consider the impact on the industrial base, which is profound and which he is charged to maintain.

All the cuts have been described as justified by the future of irregular warfare. We applaud the emphasis on that, but does Gates believe that we will never have to deter or fight a conventional war or face down a nuclear threat? His budget says he does.

The Gates budget is also tied to the “less than zero-sum” game imposed by budget constraints. The president signed a $787 billion stimulus that nobody read, so why didn’t Gates ask for 10% (or $79 billion) to recapitalize the services that have deployed for 19 years in Bosnia, Kosovo and the Middle East? We are not short of funds, but the Obama administration has placed a low priority on defense. The stimulus addition to defense could have created 500 thousand jobs, which should be his priority, plus recapitalized a worn-out military, which should be Gates’ top priority.

Now one of the most surprising things was that the secretary did not get all of his facts right on the programs he cancelled. This is one of the dangers of a small, rigidly-bound group having total control of the defense budget.

For instance, his cancellation of the presidential helicopter program was based on future cost projections. The current program is basically on cost and on schedule with nine helicopters delivered. The problem is that the White House, Secret Service and Navy have added a host of gold plated requirements on the next model to be bought (“increment 2”) which could have been removed.

Why cancel the program and throw away $4 billion? The Marine and Navy pilots are very happy with the performance of the helicopter. Gates should have looked at removing the gold plating instead of cancelling the program outright, as the Italian defense Minister said in letter to Mr. Gates on 28 May.

Termination of the F-22 was the most far-reaching and short-sighted of Gates’ decisions. When the program was begun in the late 1980s, the Air Force said it needed 750 F-22s. With the end of the Cold War, the requirement was reduced again and again, to the point at which the Air Force said that with 243 aircraft, there would be a “moderate risk.”

Of what? Of losing a war if we were engaged in more than one conflict at a time.

Now comes Secretary Gates, cutting the force of F-22s to the “affordable” number of 187. Please note that the threat hasn’t changed. If 243 aircraft create a moderate risk of losing a war, what do 187 mean?

It means we have a higher risk, perhaps a fatally higher one, of losing a war. Gates' termination decision at 187 means that we will have only about 65 combat coded fighters on any given day. That would be the smallest air superiority force since WWI.

That number will also not equip each of the Air Expeditionary Forces that make up the deployable Air Force, nor will the smaller number provide sustainable combat power for the combatant commanders such as Dave Petraeus, Stan McChrystal and the other front-line warriors.

This short-sighted decision is unreasonable when measured against the developing threat we are facing in Iran and North Korea. Gates will not let the F-22 be deployed into the Middle East for unknown reasons but never fails to say that they have not been used in combat. That amounts to a political decision, not a reason to cancel the program.

Gates’ overconfidence in the F-35 misses the point. The Pentagon planned to have a mix of F-22s and F-35s because the F-35 lacks both the air-to-air dogfighting capability the F-22 has and the F-22’s survival capabilities against the advanced Surface to Air Missile Systems that are about to be deployed into Iran and even North Korea. And then there is the small fact that the F-22 is in production, and the F-35 will not be ready for prime time for years to come.

Gates’ rationale that “exquisite,” dominating combat systems are not required by American aviators…and, that the services should be equipped with aircraft that “will do” is just not embraced by the fighter pilots that actually fly into harm’s way or knowledgeable analysts that study actual lessons learned and contemporary threats and long term trends.

This “just getting-by” logic of his will be costly in lives, in treasure and certainly in our ability to influence or deter, as we will never be able to field the numbers that potential threats have available to them. We owe it to our warriors -- and to ourselves -- that each aircraft (or other combat system) will be the absolute best that can be produced and delivered -- especially the aircraft tasked to perform the “predicate mission” of air dominance throughout the combat area of responsibility.

Why would we terminate the most advanced fighter in the world, as the production is reaching optimum price and delivery schedule for a less capable, unproven, unfielded design that would not win in a fly-off? The F-22 would have a 100 to 0 success rate against the F-35. It makes no sense at all. Ask the captains and majors what they want. They will have to fly them in combat at the risk of their lives and their joint forces.

The cancellation of the Combat Search and Rescue Helicopter -- CSAR -- for the Air Force 30 days before the winner was to be announced is seemingly based on Gates saying that a single service requirement was not necessary as we had lots of helicopters to do this mission. Unfortunately, the clique of sycophants around the secretary did not realize that we have tried this before in “real” combat, and it has always failed.

True, combat search and rescue is a time critical, high intensity, high risk mission area that demands pilot and aircrew core competencies, focused training, specific equipage and an assigned service responsible to the overall joint team for the organizing, training and equipping of this mission area. In short, as the previous Air Force Chief of Staff (General Buzz Moseley) has stated, “this is an ethical and moral imperative to pick our people up…all our people…across the full joint spectrum of operations. If we are going to send them out to fight…we must have the capability to recover them in distress.”

Since 2001, our CSAR crews have rescued over 3,000 people. The United States Air Force CSAR forces are Joint Forces working for the Joint Force Air Component Commander.

Mr. Secretary, we expect you to provide resources to recover our aircrews in combat and peacetime, every time, and with all possible speed and expertise.

The most egregious errors were in his testimony about the cancelation of the Kinetic Energy Interceptor (KEI). The Lexington Institute’s Dan Goure pointed out six major factual errors in his rationale for canceling the program of a long-range interceptor. Yet Gates would not recant on this important decision on missile defense. On 28 May, former Secretary of Defense Bill Cohn pointed out in an op-ed in the Washington Times that now is not the time to cut $1.4 billion out of long range missile defense with North Korea and Iran increasing their long range missile capabilities. We quite agree with Cohen’s recommendation.

Gates is delaying the Initial Operational Capability of the Next Generation Bomber (NGB) for more study, which is just slow rolling it. The fact of the matter is this “taking of the money” and “delay for additional study” will effectively kill the effort to develop and deliver a lethal, penetrating, persistent, survivable long range strike aircraft that is required to provide the President the true global reach and global strike necessary to deter and dissuade (or deliver strategically paralyzing, decisive blows).

How many of those captains and majors and lieutenant colonels flying B-52s thought that -- as it now appears will result from Gates’ decision -- they and their sons will be flying the B-52 when it achieves the unenviable distinction of becoming the first 100-year old aircraft still flying in combat? Aches the age of 100 years? Surely America can do better for the pilots and crews who fly.

The Navy saw its carrier battle groups reduced from 11 to 10, which means that they will now end up with nine air wings. This will put us at greater risk at a time that we see an increasing emerging threat in North Korea and Iran. One must ask the question, why is the Obama administration taking such risk?

The Army had their Future Combat System vehicle modernization program cancelled, and General Casey, the Army Chief, said “I supported it, I did not agree with it,” which goes back to our introduction and the gag orders that our senior military leaders were forced to live with for the first time in history.

In summary, Gates still has great credibility on Capitol Hill, and we are still great admirers of all he is trying to do especially in Iraq and Afghanistan, but most members do not understand the dangers of this budget. Most alarming is this budget appears to all observers to be a step towards unilateral disarmament. For the first time in modern history, the administration will not publish the five-year defense program.

North Korea detonated a second nuclear weapon on Memorial Day and continues to fire ballistic missiles specifically to send signals of defiance to the Obama administration. The May detonation was immediately followed by President Ahmadinejad of Iran saying they would continue their nuclear development program. Today, Iran is about to come apart and we are still exhibiting weakness and appeasement.

We are facing some very challenging, very lethal and very technologically advanced threats, and now is not the time for unilateral disarmament. Only our members of Congress can stop this dangerous budget now. Mr. Gates’ priorities and his decisions without analysis are the problem. Our troops fighting today and our troops that will certainly fight tomorrow deserve a more honestly-based and adequately budgeted force structure.

What epiphany did we miss?

Utopian Idiotcare

By Annie Hamilton

When applying criticism, it’s often useful to point out something positive in advance, to “soften” things up…as I rarely do this when criticizing the Obama Administration, I thought this might perhaps be somewhat welcome.

He is consistent with his narcissism and as yet unfulfilled “promises.” Hey, it’s something!

He’s been issuing warnings about Universal health care and true to form, they’ve rolled out H.R. 676.

It’s an expansion of Medicare in the form of a Single Payer System which is a bit different than the European style universal health care but make no mistake, it’s just as restrictive, stupid and expensive.

A few of the “features”

1.   Coverage is cradle to grave for every single person in the United States.

2.   Pre-existing conditions will no longer be applicable regardless of health.

3.   No more co-pays OR deductibles.

4.   ALL Prescription medications will be covered.

5.   ALL dental AND eye coverage will be included.

6.   Mental health AND Substance abuse coverage will be FULLY covered.

7.   Long term care AND Nursing home stays will be covered.

8.   You will always choose your own doctors and hospitals…that is, the ones who actually stay in     business.

9.   Costs of care will be determined by a ‘sliding scale’ fee schedule.

10. They claim the Administration will be ‘easy and painless’

11. Plan is portable and goes where you go, even if you change jobs.

12. Greatly increases the services for those over the age of 65.

13. Promises to ‘never again let Corporation will be able to “deny” you care ever again! (of course not, it will be determined by the Government!!)

Sounds fabulous, sign me up! And while you’re at it, I’ll take a new car, and maybe have my mid-section taken in.  Why not? this is surely the death of personal responsibility with no co-pays, no deductibles and full coverage of everything you can think of. What could be wrong with this utopian health care plan?

For starters, “Cadillac” health care for everyone in the country will only be paid for by those who actually contribute to the economy.  I can tell you for a fact, most of us who do contribute are sick and tired of being taxed to death and I certainly don’t feel like paying for health care for the masses already leeching from the public system, Octomoms and their zillions of kids and more than likely, illegal aliens. This is a surefire recipe for bankruptcy.

Next, the bill “decides” on the Physicians salary, prevents them from taking ownership in their own practices and determines fee schedules and schedule of payments, by a sliding scale.  I have one question then:  Knowing that medicine is a business that requires extensive education, a certain flair for management of both people and resources, what rational person would knowingly subject themselves to the commitment of “becoming” a Doctor, knowing that this would be the setting in which they’d be practicing?

Are they completely OUT of their minds?

Many Doctors own their own practices, this will PREVENT that?  How, exactly?  That goes against everything we’re about as Americans.

In our capitalistic nation, we don’t have a health-care system but rather, we have a health-care marketplace where insurance, medical services, and pharmaceuticals are bought and sold. Government spending, taxation and regulation impact this marketplace profoundly. The current Medicare/Medicaid is there for the truly needy and elderly and/or disabled.  Others have the opportunity to purchase insurance through their employers or individually.

Politicians keep whining about the cost of health care going up every year but what they’re not telling you is much of that is due to waste/over regulation in the system as well as the increases in malpractice insurance that MUST be passed to the patient in order to justify the Physician’s fixed overhead expenses. (Although some of their expenses are variable, most tend to be fixed these days)

One way to LOWER the cost of health care overall is to overhaul the tort system and the anti-trust laws.  Stick with arbitration for the truly negligent cases and get rid of the frivolous lawsuits that are currently shredding the system to pieces. I guarantee you, as our Congress and Senate is mainly made up of attorneys, they don’t want to hear this and would rather throw tax money, our money. at this problem than accept the time to overhaul these idiotic laws.

As much as possible, health coverage should be in the hands of the consumer. Medical savings accounts, flexible spending plans, etc., allowing individuals to set aside portions of their income on a pre-taxed basis for co-pays, deductibles, dental, eye, prescriptions, emergencies and other incidentals. There are various types of flexible plans and companies that will administrate the paperwork for you.  In  certain cases you can actually shift yourself into a more favorable tax bracket just by setting that money aside, pre-taxed, to be spent later.

As employers are now having to deal with the tax and administration hassle of health insurance, wouldn’t it be better to allow individuals to also pay for premiums with pre-tax dollars like corporations do?

Last but not least, the idea of removing co-pays and deductibles falls into the “what in the hell are they thinking” category.  What incentive does a person have to be careful with over-utilization if there is no tie to their wallet? Since this thing is whipping right through the pipeline in congress, I can’t WAIT to see what their “supposed” added tax will be.

Everyone, conservative or not needs to be ready for the big reveal regarding the new healthcare tax poo sandwich, because we are all going to have to take a big tasty bite.

The New York Times Pulitzer fiasco

By Annie Hamilton

The Epitome of Treason and Deceit

Separate, these words convey strong images and feelings, together, the words signal a very deep  betrayal, treachery and a breach of allegiance to the United States and its’ protectors.

Life in America certainly has changed. We’re watching our banks crumble, businesses fold and taxes grow while our Government fails to protect our financial and regulatory interests. Since January 20 we’ve experienced the horror of a dwindling congressional backbone, cuts in our mlitary and an inexperienced President who seemingly despises Americans but would rather cozy up to Dictators and threaten prosecution toward those who practice freedom of speech and personal responsibility.

In short we’re in the middle of a mess that requires experience, wisdom, hard work and a return to traditional values.

Now, even the highly coveted Pulitzer Prize has fallen prey fraudulent hands soiling the prestige of its integrity. This is unfortunate news for writers/reporters of substance as this is the highest achievement and recognition those professionals can earn.

Background

On April 20 (one year to the date of the original article’s publication) The New York Times published a press release announcing their receipt of five Pulitzer prizes. One of those, awarded to Times Reporter David Barstow was especially troubling as its’ intention served as a reward for Barstow’s hit piece on Retired Military Analysts (RMAs), dramatically titled “Behind TV Analysts, Pentagon’s Hidden Hand.”

Amongst other things, the piece alleged a manipulative effort to generate favorable news coverage of the Administration’s wartime performance as well as accusations that RMA’s (retired military analysts) were ‘using’ their influence and ties to military contractors in order to gain unfair opportunities to enhance their “individual business interests.”

This article so greatly concerned readers that forty one members of Congress filed a formal request for the Department of Defense to conduct a thorough investigation into the ‘relationship’ between the RMA’s and alleged activities and/or advantages. Amongst the specific concerns raised by Congress was the potential use of appropriated funds for the serving of ‘propaganda or publicity purposes not authorized by Congress.’ As such, under Section 1056 of the Duncan Hunter Act for Fiscal year 2009, the prohibitions were iterated and a formal request for a detailed report was scheduled to be released to Congress within 90 days of the enactment.

In order to fully and appropriately address the issues and congressional concerns, more than 12,000 pages of documents were reviewed and in excess of 30 witnesses were interviewed, including; RMA’s, Department of Defense Public Affairs personnel, and others who provided outreach briefings, papers and media representatives.

Out of the documentation received and scrutinized, absolutely no findings were discovered that positively identified a pattern for RMA’s tendency to gain favorable advantage through their position or authority. As such, no further investigation was deemed warranted and the matter was closed.

So it begs the question, what on earth was Barstow thinking when he put the article together?

Why develop a 3 page hit piece on our nation’s bravest individuals unless it was intended to further serve his radical leftist agenda?

Is he incapable of gathering (and interpreting) accurate research or does he just have a beef with authority figures or the military?

Furthermore, why would the Pulitzer committee give the New York Times one prize, let alone five, after the publication of the 85 page report exonerating these inappropriately targeted officials?

Shouldn’t there be accountability… a day of reckoning for this so-called ‘Reporter’ who failed to meet the burden of proof in order to satisfy his story?

Yes, the first amendment protects both free speech and freedom of the press, with that said, it does not protect the press from public scrutiny, scorn, or criticism when it acts in an irresponsible manner.

Furthermore, publishing articles littered with embellishments, exaggerations and lies is not just irresponsible behaviour for a journalist; it is even worse for their publisher. In this case The New York Times. Those who make a habit of practicing “Yellow Journalism” could eventually find themselves knee deep in civil court proceedings when it results in undue harm and damages to the target of the story.

In this case, its slanderous speech. There is no question there was an outright attempt to smear the good names and reputations of the individuals named in the poorly written article. It hardly requires a genius to understand that Mr. Barstow’s intent was to damage the credibility and reputation of the Bush Administration and our military. His publicly discredited attempts to undercut our nation’s bravest  warriors accomplishes little more than turning the Prize, his newspaper and his reputation into a laughing stock.

And we wonder why our newspapers are going out of print?

With shoddy reporting like Barstow’s, it is little wonder why the paper is losing money.

Mr. Barstow is lacking in accountability and professionalism, he should relinquish his ill gained award.

The public and the military should hold him accountable for his actions now and in the future by calling his office, The New York Times, sending emails and boycotting their advertisers.

He needs to recant his untrue statements, apologize publicly to the American people, the military, and their families for his false reports. Not to mention the American tax payer who is footing the bill for the forty-one congressional representatives to investigate his claims in the first place.

As a journalist, accepting an award under false pretences is not right, it violates The  New York Times ethics rules, and it sends the wrong message to Americans everywhere.

It is time for Americans to Stand Up, protest this outrage and hold David Barstow accountable.

The Line in the Sand

We have come to a place in our nation’s history where it is prudent to define who we are as people, a country, and as a culture. The United States was founded on traditional values, including the freedom to practice one’s own religious beliefs, including nothing, should one desire. Our Founding Fathers could not agree on these matters and as such, they left it up to each individual state.

Just as imperative, we must address the passionate unraveling this administration has elected to take on with lusty fervor of our constitutional papers, Bill of Rights, respect for other people, a very basic “creed” of standards that revere regardless of whether their political views stem from.

As a lover of Thomas Jefferson’s readings, I can understand why Obama and friends would want to separate themselves from these documents as much as possible as they have so little in common.

A few blurbs to refresh your memory:

*And to preserve their independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude.

*Never spend your money before you have it.

*Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.

*Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.

*In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution.

As of late, this has become a largely endangered practice that we’ve seen become threatened more and more and as world events have indicated around us, it would seem that it’s time to turn our attention to the writing on the brightly colored wall that is desperately seeking our attention now. Where have we gone wrong and what can we do (if anything) to turn this situation around?

*Warning sign missed (from my perception) our spiritual leaders and institutions have gone soft.

Case in point:  Notre Dame inviting Obama to their ceremonies despite his miserable stance on abortion and their own historical viewpoint on this delicate subject?  And I cannot tell you how many times I’ve pulled into the parking lot on a Sunday morning only to see ‘Obama 08’ Stickers on the back of people’s cars and vans.

Certainly, they’re entitled to an opinion but my question would be this: what believing person, Jew or Christian would attend a service and support an institution that would willingly endorse a candidate, knowingly or not, that publicly states that his first intention is to remove ALL restrictions off of all abortion altogether?

And if you’re unaware of this, you have your head in the sand. Sorry to be harsh but ignorance is NO EXCUSE.

He only repeated this like a broken record throughout his entire campaign, people and it’s, I believe, the first order he signed. (at least he’s true to his word, right?) but he’s a amoral and hence, has no place in the White House.

*Next, he took large pay outs from the financial institutions and then cried foul during the banking scandals. This highly inappropriate. If you’re going to do something like this, at least stand behind your people. Be accountable when you’re caught AND when they’re caught. So…he’s a scum bag with no backbone. That makes him a weasel on top of that. Typical of the Chicago political machine. They have no loyalty even unto themselves. Anyone recall the St. Valentine’s Day massacre. The Chicago “political MOB is no different.”

*There are countless court cases tying Obama’s birth certificate mystery up in the California Supreme Court as well as the testimony of his Grandmother and people trying to uncover his college transcripts. People (including myself) wanting answers about this person’s past.

We don’t know anything about this person - he claims to be a Christian which is laughable since Black Liberation Theology is a warped version of the gospels and has little connection with real Judeo-Christian theology.

Then consider this, three people from his church were killed execution style over the past couple of years and at least one person, and rumors in Chicago have continued to float that tie Obama to two of them in a sexual way. Again, they are just rumors, but it does prove my point that the man has more shadows to him than we are aware of and that Chicago politics is very dirty, they do tend to feed on their own when convenient. If someone wanted to take him down politically or twist The Manchurian Candidates arm, there is likely enough ammo in his past to make it happen.

Who is he? Is he qualified and eligible to be the leader of the free world? Why is he hiding so many secretive documents? If they are no big deal, why the refusal now in coming forth with them? Is it because they might explain his foreign aid received during his college years?

We DO have a right to know! It’s time to come forth and explain these things to the American people.

Bernard Madoff has been touted the “greatest thug of all time” in political and money blogs over the past several weeks but I must adamantly disagree. It’s Obama and Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and the others who continue to perpetuate and this giant scam they’ve pulled off with the American Reinvestment Act, they are all ripping off the masses while praying at the feet of Obama.

They’ve signed away the country to the “Slum Monkey Trillionaire” who is is unraveling our beautiful country, piece by piece, using our constitution like it’s old toilet paper, and why should he care? He has nothing to lose! As a matter of fact, he doesn’t even hold the deed to his own home and adjoining property, Rezko the slum lord in Chicago does.

Add to this that Obama is very cozy with George Soros and his Joyce Foundation among his other assorted organizations. What kind of a person would be so proud to associate with a man like Soros who has made efforts to put banks and other financial institutions in default to earn himself money at the risk of its common depositors and employees?

Many people are asleep, refusing to see that Obama their teleprompter dependent President is good at making speeches that say NOTHING. He’s a fertilizer salesman and he’s good at spreading it around and the people he associates with have seemingly crawled up from the depths of the same cess pool.

He takes from the earning and gives to the wanting and demanding, not to the needy, not to the poor, not to hard working people with a dream. He is a flim-flam man, a con artist, a shyster and at least 53% of the American people are asleep and not paying attention. They don’t understand that we are close to losing the freedoms our fore fathers worked so hard to instill in all of us.

The right to own a gun for instance, it’s not a privilege, it’s a RIGHT. It’s the second amendment. And they’re working to remove it. We can’t let this happen. It’s up to us as Americans to speak up and tell them that it is not going to happen.

God expects us to stand up and do what is right – period.

We need people to set examples, to use their voices, to NOT be like Michael Steele and Meghan McCain – always looking for the next open mic, rolling video cam, conference call or talk show to get their face or voice on. Besides they are way too politically correct, and have little to no real backbone or at least the one they have is twisted in the wrong direction and weak. Might win an election but it shows no manner of deeper convictions.

In my opinion, Meghan McCain frankly could take a lesson from famous blonde conservative shark, Ann Coulter or conservative female gun activist Rosanna Pulido. And if Michael Steele wants a black conservative mentor, I would suggest he listen to Larry Elder or Lt. Col. Allen West. Their grasp of the issues and how to move the country forward speak volumes to all and not just those who seem to be enamoured with the glitz and glamour of a TV studio.

Give me a Rush, Hannity, Levin, Coulter, Boortz, or a Beck any day over someone afraid to speak their mind and be honest about the issues and let their “yes” be “yes” and “no” be “no” even if it’s unpopular.

It’s perfectly okay to be critical of the President, it is way past time we tip the scales in the right direction, turn the tables, and upset the left. They have done nothing to improve life in America and instead acted irresponsibly for years, not just since the day “HE” was elected.

It is time for strategic thought, tactical voices, deeply heartfelt Judeo-Christian convictions and physical activity; the line is already in the sand, it is time to step over it boldly, get busy and take our country back.

Anyone with me?

Find your Backbones NOW!!!

by Annie Hamilton

We have come to a place in our Nation's history where it prudent to define who we are as people, a country, as a culture. *Warning sign missed(from my perception) our spiritual Leaders leaders and institutions have gone soft- (case in point:  Notre Dame inviting Obama to their ceremonies despite his miserable stance on abortion and their own historical viewpoint on this delicate subject?  And I cannot tell you how many times I’ve pulled into the parking lot on a Sunday morning only to see ‘Obama 08’ Stickers on the back of people’s cars and vans.  Certainly, they’re entitled to an opinion but my question would be this: what believing person, Jew or Christian would attend a service and support an institution that would willingly endorse a Candidate, knowingly or not, that publicly states that his first intention is to remove ALL restrictions off of all abortion altogether? And if you’re unaware of this, you’re an idiot. Sorry to be harsh but ignorance is NO EXCUSE. It’s NOT. He only repeated this like a broken record throughout his entire campaign, people and it’s, I believe, the first order he signed. (at least he’s true to his word, right?) but he’s a amoral and hence, has no place in the White House.

*Next, he took large payouts from the financial institutions and then cried foul during the banking scandals. This highly inappropriate. If you’re going to do something like this, at least stand behind your people. Be accountable when you're caught AND when they're caught. So…he’s a scumbag with no backbone. That makes him a weasel on top of that. Typical of the Chicago political machine. They have no loyalty.

*We don’t know anything about this person- he claims to be a Christian which is laughable. Three people from his church were killed execution style over the past couple of years and Larry Sinclair is on record as saying that Obama was sexually connected to at least two of them. There are countless court cases tying Obama’s birth certificate mystery up in the California supreme court as well as the testimony of his Grandmother and people trying to uncover his college transcripts. People (including myself) wanting answers about this person’s past.

Many people continue on in their lives, lazy and indifferent, refusing to see that Obama, vulnerable to the teleprompter is good at making speeches that say NOTHING. he's a fertilizer salesman. should work in the agriculture industry. Forget spreading the wealth, he should be spreading fertilizer.

In truth, though? Should this guy ever actually SEE a terrorist? he'd pee in his pants and jump straight into the arms of seasoned war vet, John McCain who would hopefully drop kick his arse right into their line of fire.

he right thing, guys – and do it now – we do NOT want to be Germany, the second act!

We need people to set examples, to use their voices, to NOT be like the Michael Steeles and Meghan McCain’s – no backone. Too politically correct, disgusting. Ick. This goes nowhere. Might win an election but morally it’s nasty. Give me a Rush or a Hannity or a Beck anyday over someone afraid to speak their MIND and be honest about the issues and let their yes be yes and no be no even if it’s unpopular.

Meghan McCain - shut the hell up!!  frankly YOU could take a lesson from Ann Coulter!!

It’s perfectly ok to be critical of the President and irritate the left, people – they deserve it, they have done nothing but act dumb and irresponsible since 1/20 and need to be called out on it. Time to call it for what it is. Time to get busy and get our country back. I’m tired. Anyone with me?

PEOPLE NEED TO HEAR THE TRUTH - AND THEY NEED TO HEAR IT NOW!!! The time has come for less talk and MORE action.

SlumMonkey Trillionaire: Best Bank Robber in the History of the USA?

SlumMonkey Trillionaire: Best Bank Robber in the History of the U.S.A.

Has anyone else noticed that every single time Obama opens his big yap the dow drops more? Is he TRYING to drain it to nothing? He's either following a pre-determined plan or he's the dumbest A$$-hat on the face of the earth. My personal feeling? he's alot of both. (by the way, the photo to the left shows Rahm Emanuel from his ballet days )

I'm curious as to how they're going to navigate Universal health care into this dog turd of a plan? Please don't forget that when Reagan took office he ALSO had a huge financial mess to fix and his thinking was 'personal responsibility ' tax incentives, put the people to work, engage the American public, (tell them EXACTLY what is going on!) lower taxes, (not raise business taxes, ya idiot!) carefully navigate the sensitive waters of foriegn affairs, not 'try to friend everyone like they're your buddies on facebook!'

And he's given Pelosi free reign with a checkbook with so many freaking zeros that no one can even count that high! They're not even reading the legislation that he's signing into law!! it's nuts, goes against even the most liberal American policies, teeters blatantly into Socialism and is against everything we stand for as Americans. The scary part? There are still nearly half the Country that is buying this guy's line of crap like it's manna from heaven. What the HELL? he's nothing but a used car salesman!! Why wouldn't they listen when we brought up concerns with the people he surrounded himself with as he was gaining in power and coming up through the ranks in Chicago? his entire life from his parents to his friends and business associates have been complete and total scum. So why would we expect his Presidency to be any different?

The bible talks about watching the company you keep, lest you catch fleas from laying down with the dogs. and this guy's entire life path has been nothing but one kennel after another. And now he's dragged us into Universal health care, a new department that focuses on Reparations, (which is completely inappropriate, what in the hell do you think WELFARE is for??) new cabinet choice after new cabinet choice of fallen people who don't pay their taxes and have a history of other shady business dealings, mistress problems, etc., when is the left going to learn that this is NOT what our founding fathers had in mind?? Is this what Clinton set us up for with his endless blowjobs and lying to congress about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky? We can no longer trust our leaders to do the right thing?
Or are we just paying the price because his actions might suggest that he hates all whites and feels oppressed because he was abandoned by his black father (also a 'prize' individual who died a violent death under icky circumstances) and perhaps this is his revenge for years of embarrassment of growing up in a white household in a run down slum?

In summary, I would propose that Obama is about as capable to lead the free world as he might be in performing brain surgery or giving birth to a human being. In short, he's NOT. He might be able to manage a deep fryer at McDonald's or a Booth at a Carnival but that's about as far as I'd stretch his skill set. From what I've seen, thus far? not impressive. He regurtitates the same crap over and over again and the only reason people are lapping it up is they're under some idiotic liberal spell, spun by the left wing media, Obama's retarded worship mongers, such as Joy Behar, Katie Couric, David Letterman and those sorts who use their public platform to spread their message. It's effective. (we're still SMARTER. )

But you libtards will see. Republicans will teach you a lesson. Most of us will change our tax filing status to 1099 and and come tax time we'll just explain in a simple note that we're not able to fund Marxism and that we expect to be treated with the same courtesy that the Admin showed Barney Frank, Obama, Tom Daschle and the others. Not much they can say if the other 47 % do it, is there? And then what are you guys who are already on the tit going to do? where will your welfare come from if we're refusing to pay for it? because the truth is, weenies, you've been enjoying employment free freedom at OUR expense for long enough. time to get a J O B. that's right, a job. If you want to serve your master, you can work for it now too. but don't fret, we know how you LOVE having decisions taken away from you - and this is one that we've taken from you as well! Once our tax money is gone from the system, your welfare system collapses. too bad, so sad. Maybe your Uncle Obama will shell out some bucks. and if not, Harriet probably has room in her house. Cheers!! :)

A Bipartisan Plea...

Unite the Nation as an Example

The Wall Street Journal had an article discussing the dismal treatment of Former President Bush, by both parties, the media and the public.

It got me to thinking....What would happen if the Republicans, Conservative Independents (like me) media (i.e., Fox, Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity, Coulter & others) and others concerned rose up and treated Obama (bile rising up my throat as I picture the extra taxes being sucked out of ours and millions of Americans budgets and worry about how the smaller businesses in Ventura will stay open) like they've treated President Bush for all of those years?

Never mind. it's not the right thing to do. Titus 3:1-2 says to be subject to the rulers and authorities and to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good and decent, and to not slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate. To show true humility toward all men. (additional references can be found within Ephesians 4:31; 2 Timothy 2:24 )

It's so difficult for me to follow God's instruction when watching Bush grieve publicly under the weight of what must be such great humiliation. America has been hurtful to him and as with so many great leaders of our past, only time will tell how his Leadership has truly impacted our history for the good or for the bad. How difficult that must have been for his wife and daughters, his parents and close friends. I hate it when people write terrible things about people I love. It's evil and unnecessary.

I know that personally, when I see things like Sean Penn on the news protesting the Iraq war, getting on a plane and going overseas to 'offer his support' to weird countries, it makes me wish that our country would revoke his passport and say 'okay, Treasonist, if you want to be a foriegn relations expert - and hate America so much - stay out! we'll pack your things and send them to you in the country of your choice. just not ours!'

Once Obama won the election, and the shock wore Off I knew we must get behind him 100 % as a nation, because it's the right thing to do. I also knew I'd be watching, along with every conservative critic in the United States of America. Every dime brought into our household depends on it. I'll admit, back when I was in my early twenties, I voted for Clinton the first time around - most kids go through a liberal phase when they are young. They are testing the waters, separate from their parents. They want to know who they are as individuals, where their values are. There is a saying that If you don't vote democrat in your twenties you don't have a heart...but if you don't vote Republican in your thirties, you don't have a brain.

I don't know if that's true or not. I think the right thing to do is to vote your conscious. My conscious doesn't like high taxes, partial birth abortion, flaky oversights on banking, weenie foriegn policy (face it - Al Gore & John Kerry would have turned the U.S. into a big parking lot with their Wuss foriegn relations - the leftie pinko a-holes should be kissing Bush's arse that he's a cowboy for that at least!)

My plea to Conservatives: Open your eyes - pray for our leadership. Take a deep breath a re-read that sentence. Yes, I am still unsure of him completely. I still think he's a muslim masked as a faux christian. still think he's unqualified in every way. doesn't matter. he got there. nothing we can say will change that and that's the way it goes. he needs our support. He deserves our respect. He does not need a nation divided. A united Nation will hopefully yield a stronger Country.  God uses prayer and the gifts in those he chooses to do good for the Nation. there are many in our Country and we need to find those peope, pray for them as well as pray for the ones that have surfaced already. One such person is Steve Rathje.  another is Major General Paul Vallely.

Perhaps we can set an example for the left that there is a way to treat people you disagree with - being in prayer, staying in faith, hoping that this drastic new shocking move in Washington can perhaps unify Americans, Christians and Secular, for the good of all mankind.

One last note: Please consider teaching your children to respect authority, regardless of their opinion. it's a dying breed in our Nation. We've become a surly society of 'me first' bratty people, which doesn't lend much sympathy to our case to oursiders. It would strengthen our position greatly. And it would serve our Kids and Country well.

A final thought for the day:  Iowa Businessman Steve Rathje has developed a fabulous pro-business Stimulus plan that is an alternative to the Obama/Pelosi/Democratic bill currently in play.  To review the bill you may do one of two things.  Either email me at annie.hamilton@gmail.com and I will promptly send you the attachment showing the easy to read 3 page format or you may log on to Steve's site at www.STEVERATHJE.com and click on 'issues' to review it in full. please let me know you've seen it and provide feedback!! thanks :)

Henrietta and the new Department of Urban Affairs

Well, well, well!!!

he's outdone himself. I learned of this yesterday and my first reaction was to burst into laughter as it REEKS of reparations. Give me a freaking BREAK! We actually have an official department in our Government for 'Black' affairs.

Excuuuuuse me? aren't we all on an equal playing field? isn't that what the civil rights movement was about?

I'm pretty sure Dr. King just peed in his grave. this is truly disgusting. Later last evening, I learned that Henrietta ("oh, Mr. President, help me, help me, I'm homeless, we live on the streets, Mr. President!!!" why, that's awful, Henrietta!!! pause. gives her his card. kisses her forehead. crowd AHHHHH's 'Henrietta, you go see my staff!!!' to which, our new 'Rock Star' STERNLY looks off in one direction giving what I now refer to as 'the look' (don't y'all be embarrassing me, now, y'hear?) and her problems are SOLVED! just like a 30 second Dr. Phil moment, 'The One' has swept out of the sky waved his magic wand and brought the libutards of our nation to their quivering knees. Oh, the humanity!!!

Oh, the humanity indeed! Henrietta is a FRAUD. Chris Dodd Fraud. Barney Frank Fraud. Congress Fraud. Line my pockets fraud.

Henrietta is a real estate investor who allegedly transferred her properties, homes and parcels to her son's name, legally, prior to making that trek to see our new Lord and Savior, Obama, the "one' who is destined to save us from our selves from ever having to make an independent decision again!

and apparently from the enormous positive press he received (and the man LOVES his worship from the CNN's, the NBC's and the like) a new department was born.

and I see Christians, Conservatives, Mormons, Jews, the Wealthy, Whites, essentially, all Americans with an operational brain cell left as fundamentially threatened under this new department.

because Bubba loves himself some praise! and now I think I hear Air Force one firing up in the distance...it's been a day or so and he needs to hear the sound of the applause...there must be a crowd waiting in a failing community somewhere...

OBAMA WORSHIP AND THE IDIOTIC LEFT

Touch his sleeve and he'll remove your debt, make you feel special, put a gleam in your eye, a skip in  your step.

Hell, if your Chris Matthews or Katie Couric, you might have to change your underwear or control that quivering of the leg!  Who is this new celebrity extraordinaire that is here to 'save the world?' free us from ourselves? Is it the Jonas Brothers?

No! It's President Barack Obama...our New President, allegedly born in Kenya (buried his birth certificate) complete with terrorist ties, dirty Chicago business ties, dirty political ties, the deed to his home and adjacent lot is held by a felonious real estate crook (Tony Rezko)
note to self:  me thinks Obama's Mama forgot to put him in " I feel good about ME classes in kindergarden!"

Is Black Jesus here to save us?  why, yes he is!  just ASK him! we don't know how to spend our money properly! but he certainly does! just ask him about his part in the housing crisis, about his payout from the various companies, why the $93 million dollar trail disappeared from the internet over the past year or so and why no one ever forced Chris Dodd to produce his loan documents from Countrywide?
If an average person did any of this would they be leading the country or perhaps leading a softball team from Sing Sing?

How exactly do we expect to hold our leaders more accountable when our countrymen and women are squirming around in their seats as if his every move is like watching a porn star? It's gotten ridiculous and every day becomes more expensive for my portfolio. The 47 % rational Americanas left are unhappy about the idiotic left and do have options that we shall elect to exercise is left no choice...but it does beg the question...

where are your heads?

American Oil - A Bipartisan Concept

This has been on my mind for quite some time and I've shared it with others, friends who tend to be like minded these days.  It's been a very difficult week for most Americans.  Our Government passed a piece of legislation (our TURD II as I've fondly nicknamed it) with the admission that not one (confirmed 2/13/09 on Greta Van Susteran that not ONE had read more than 5 lines of the cumbersome language of the more than 900 pages of text)  Our President and his team 'assured them' that they 'didn't have time' to go through the fine print' it children were going to bed hungry.  Oh really?  well...now that we know that the money isn't going to trickle into locale economy's for another 18  months, I'd love to know what he plans to do about those kids...go bless each of them as the new messiah? kick'em some happy meals and a few toys? maybe an x-box and bat man underwear? but I digress.

My true message is we have been sitting on a gold mine since 1969 and the leaders in our party are probably as clueless about this as I was.  To what do I refer?  Domestic Oil Wells.  Most American oil wells were capped in the late 60's. including my families.

Back in 2004, my Father, younger brother, Bob and I started talking with the tax assessors office in Louisiansa and Texas where they are held in border offices and I started poking around for statistics (always the curious one, ha ha) and learned that there are THOUSANDS of similar wells that were capped at/around the same time that are still full of mostly  natuaral gas that feasibly could easily be a prime source of fuel for THIS NATION!!!  I was three when ours was capped, up until then it was one of the sources of wealth for my father's family.

They've been continuing to work on the uncapping process (engineers) as it's tricky especially in this political climate but it truly has me wondering...if our government can pass a bill that allows universal healthcare, reporting of mental health records into a database, regulation of firearms, potential regulation of talk radio, potential dumbing down of our credit system, the most draconian regulatory physician mandates ever to be allowed in the United States - certainly we can get the fuel companies to allow the following to happen for the greater good:

If a BIPARTISAN Government trust was housed with a trustworthy party, such as a non-Government (frankly none of them have shown trustworthiness lately!!!) so, how about Mike Huckabee, a great Republican and Marc Lamont Hill, a wonderful, rational liberal whose arguments I always enjoy.  PUT ONE HUGE TRUST TOGETHER, HOUSED TO BE OVERSAW BY THEM.  More details would follow. Congress would have NOTHING to say about it because their judgement is greedy, impaired and 'what's in it for me' and we need to move past that' and get back to the business of caring for the  American people.  No payouts to the oil companies but their taxes would be reduced greatly and their cooperation would be required.  They've had a strangle on the country for quite long enough.

By pooling the thousands of trusts together, uncapping the wells and allowing our own resources to be pooled from our own nation, we are doing the following:

1.  CONTROLLING THE COST OF FUEL
2.  ELIMINATING THE NEED FOR FORIEGN FUEL
3.  CREATING A POT FOR CLEAN EMISSIONS/FUEL
4.  ELIMINATING ALL DEBT/PLUS THE IMPENDING DEBT FROM TURD II

ONCE PAID?

1.  GOVERNMENT IS FLUSH WITH CASH TO REBUILD - UNDER STRICT SCRUTINY FROM THE PEOPLE
2.. FAMILIES WHO OWN THE WELLS GET TO ENJOY THEM
3.  GOVERNMENT WOULD REPAY THE FAMILIES 2 % TO FAMILIES FOR BORROWING AGAINST WELLS AND FAMILIES WOULD NEVER PAY TAXES AGAIN (WE WOULDN'T HAVE ACCESS TO FUNDS WHILE WELLS ARE BEING USED)
4.  GOVERNMENT WOULD BUILD A 'GREAT WALL OF CHINA' STYLE WALL AROUND THE BORDER TO MEXICO AND PUT 24 HR COPS/W UZIS ON THE BORDER WITH IMMEDIATE ORDERS TO SHOOT ANYONE WHO VIOLATES ORDERS TO STAY AWAY.  MEXICO'S DRUG WAR IS OUT OF CONTROL AND OUR SAFETY MUST COME FIRST, PERIOD.

Currently, none of this is able to happen, because different Gas companies hold the mineral rights to different wells in various parts of the company and they refuse to work together - THIS IS CRAP.  This infantile attitude is holding up progress in our nation and keeping a fundamental area of economics from development that could seal up several areas.  Now don't you wonder why they would do this?

MONEY.  it's greed. pure greed. It's time to put the greed aside and force them to work together for the good of the people. and NOT put Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi and the New Muhammed in the middle of it.  This is one area where touching one's cloak will not fix things, it must be bipartisan and not on someone else's dime.

We must work together.

The Tucker Sherman Project

A Vision for Children, A Vision for Change

When will our consciences grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it?

Eleanor Roosevelt

Paper nominated for the Rolex prize in 2003

currently with the National Institutes of Health/Institute of Pediatrics/Endocrinology/George Chrousos MD and the University of Athens

How can we as responsible Adults realign the present system we currently depend on to ensure the safety of our children while achieving economic compatability within all systems, public and private, and in doing so, renew the spirit of compassion and accountability within society?

Ideal reform of services must utilize all aspects of government and requires cooperation from facilities both public and private. The imperatives described within, once established, should not be compromised for self interest or personal agenda. Principles, although versatile for purposes of improvement, must not be diluted or weakened in the process.

Ideal reform within the systems that ensure the safety of our children must be implemented in a straight forward manner, steadfast with honest reporting, cohesive involvement of all parties and predetermined tenants to succeed with lasting results and measurable outcomes.

As a principle, the societal value of the child must be reexamined, with policy reform reflecting all changes deemed appropriate. Abraham Lincoln reflected this value when stating that 'to sin in silence when they should protest makes cowards of mankind'

INITIATIVES FOR THE TASK AT HAND CAN BE FURTHER SUMMARIZED INTO THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS:

      1.  Children at risk for abuse and fatal injury must be identified and tracked as such.  furthermore, a system designed for accountability
for must be developed and maintained.

      2.  Children who are identified as 'at risk' must be protected as a national priority whether inside or outside of the family structure.
The basis for this statement is that children are vulnerable and helpless must be afforded greater protection than the greater system
presently accommodates.  At present, our nation prefers the 'reunification' of the family model which studies reflect as a danger to
the child and an economic failure. Furthermore, children who ARE rescued from dangerous homes must be given the opportunity
to heal through integrated therapies involving mind, body and soul, including adoption efforts.

       3. The Public must become awakened to the modern reality of child abuse. it's no longer the social 'disease' of the urban poor. it's
in the wealthy homes, it's affecting more and more households, as families vent their frustration and rage. overworked, underpaid,
Social service employees are, as it's being discovered, missing more and more cases of negligence, starvation, negligent homicide,
and other forms of mysterious deaths overlooked by professionals hired to investigate.  Multi-layer reform must include educa-
tional mandatory retraining for Professionals dealing with children and aggressive marketing efforts geared toward television and
            media.

ISSUES FOR PURSUIT

It is interesting that even as we have seemingly progressed as a society, our maltreatment of children continues into the modern age.  In virtually every country on the planet, child abuse is an issue and it is one area of life that does not discriminate.  Children of all ages, races and socioeconomic categories and levels of education within families are affected by abuse and its destructive patterns.  It affects boys and girls both and although studies favor girls for sexual abuse that is only because boys are afraid to report it with the same frequency.

Who was Tucker Sherman?

In June of 2001, while traveling to a softball tournament in Dalles, Oregon, I stopped to pick up dinner for my children on the way to our hotel room.  On top of the counter sat a coffee can with a child's photograph crudely taped to the side as though it had been prepared in a hurry. It simply said, Tucker Lee Sherman, July 17 1995-March 16 2001 and noting that it had a second date on it I realized that the five year old boy was dead.  This was overwhelming for two reasons:  one, my own son was born on the 18th of July in the same area and two, he looked like he could be my child's twin. I felt this odd pull in my abdomen, an odd sensation I'd never felt before. Was it grief? before having children, I'd not even bonded with any kid, i was the first to bark at nephews and other peoples kids so I could enjoy baseball games or my 'book' and then I had my own kids and realized something - these little things that creep around with no teeth are people. they have feelings. they're helpless. oh my God. it hadn't dawned on me before. and now, years later, I was falling in love with a dead child who was reaching out to me and it wasn't making sense, I was having this strange, surreal experience but one thing was clear - I was connecting with something that was very powerful. the Man behind the counter broke my focus and asked me if he could help me.

"who is this?"  I gestured toward the photo.

"That was Tucker Sherman. a local little boy. He was..." voice choking " a local little boy who was murdered by his Mother's boyfriend."
Soon, I learned that Tucker's family had fallen victim to the mill closing and due to environmental protests and the financial burden proved too great for his parents.  Within weeks of his parents splitting up, his mother had allowed a local man to move in with her, to their place out in the country.  Tucker's father's new job as a long haul truck driver kept him away to make money and he was unaware that his ex had invited a local bully to live with them.  by the time he returned to The Dalles, three months later, his young son would be dead.

Through additional research, interviews with the District Attorney and interviews with the Sherman family and reviewing the autopsy report and slides, it came to my attention that Tucker was subjected to 106 days of physical and sexual torture and despite numerous reports to social services, the bus driver at school, the principal at school, his teacher, numerous police reports, numerous neighor reports expressing concerns AND a handwritten note that Tucker himself wrote in crayon (absolutely heartbreaking to view in person as he knew his days were numbered) he couldn't be saved - no one would be accountable for him.  they simply REFUSED to save him. flat out refused.

My curiosity about this case grew - awe, absolute jaw dropping 'what?' and I started to gather research as to how often this really happens.  With multiple reporting, parties reporting abuse, broken bones, bruises, a torn anus - in the ER, crying jags, inability to control his bladder, hand written notes (that DID get to other people, including adults) and the testimony of dozens of neighbors and friends? how is it that no one came to his aid?

Well, here is the thing:  my research and interviews with others have unveiled that Tucker's story is not unusual, it's commonplace. Thousands of children meet a similar fate every single year in this country.  Soon, I was led to Jeffrey Bennett, the former Mayor of Corona, California.  He pointed out that in this 'politically correct and polite' society, people encourage us to turn away in distaste from topics as unsavory as child abuse and that fear of getting involved has circumvented ongoing chronic abuses today.

Bennett was selfless with his time and energy and introduced me to the art of 'digging' and taught me to gather reports, deal with law enforcement, gather and read information (how to ask for it, dealing with and crossing counties, etc) and a variety of other factors. his passion and knowledge were invaluable and so very useful in putting this together. One major point we both learned in reviewing statistics is that not all states require autopsies for children and most states don't require coroners to have any experience with child abuse, battery or domestic violence.

OCCASIONAL TRAGEDY OR EPIDEMIC?

Child Abuse in America, although a subject rarely discussed in open forums is on the rise, approximately 40 % from 1992.  Since then, hundreds of organizations have been attempted- all efforts even with the best of of intentions have failed. One system provides a bandaid for an infectious disorder that is growing more gangrenous by the day, posing a threat to society, the family and to all  human beings.

Rather than reinventing the wheel, providing little more than lip service, I set out to answer societal questions that might seem simple yet tend to be viewed more as a philosophical discussion, inviting rhetoric of discussion that fwe care to defend in this politically delicate atmosphere.

SOCIETAL VALUE OF THE CHILD?

Sadly, we Americans view our children as property and have taken great steps to protect our civil liberties even at the expense of our children.  This is evident in mountains of evidence where children have been returned to dangerous homes (approximately 50 % of children who are murdered by a parent ARE KILLED AFTER A JUDGE ORDERS THEIR RETURN TO THE FAMILY HOME AFTER IGNORING THEIR FILE)   so before you respond to this and tell me i'm wrong, please re-read that statement.

PARENTAL ROLE IN AMERICA

Presently, the stratetic focus in our country is in family preservation.  While this is an admirable goal it is far more important to understand that the utopian ideal doesn't apply to families where the kids are at risk and with this in mind and based firmly in fact reunification of the child and parent should be the exception and cease as the rule.  This clearly paves the way for reform which must focus on the safety, well being and individual rights of the child as individual person and not possession or extension of parental property.    I firmly believe a dispassionate examination of the facts surrounding fatal child abuse points to the need to rethink our perception of parenting and that of the role of the child in society.  Furthermore, the realization that it's common to get a stronger sentence for killing a dog than a child should give pause. (this is changing because people are starting to speak out)

COMMUNITY NEED BETWEEN CHILD ABUSE AND SOCIETAL ISSUES

Studies indicate that children who suffer untreated abuse frequently become just as burdensome to society as their families were to them.  In fact, 20 % of children who suffer chronic abuse will serve life sentences in prison and more then 90 % of our prison population first experienced the system as victims of child abuse.  Further documentation presents issues such as drug seeking behaviors, addictions, mental illnesses, depression, learning disabilities, road rage, workplace violence, suicidal tendencies, sexual behavior/rage, and emotional unbalances.

ECONOMICS OF CHILD ABUSE

The costs of administering abuse prevention programs generally are federally funded through allocations to individual states, where state jurisdiction takes over.  With increasing regularity, the funding for such programs have been cut or reduced from budgets even though the percentages of abuse reports continue to rise.  (in fact, many studies indicate that less than 50 % of abuse is even reported further increasing the urgency) But what is the ultimate price and what is it that we really value?

                           1.  As previously stated, 20 % of victims of chronic, untreated abuse will go on to serve prison sentences. (and this
number has likely increased since 2003) the cost of incarceration exceeds hundreds of thousands of dollars per inmate,
for a twenty year to life sentence.

                           2.  Further costs include the drain on the health care economy for hospitalization, lab work, mental health care profession
als, pharmaceuticals care, emergency room visits, outpatient services, chemical dependency programs, legal advocacy
programs, loss of productivity in the workplace, (in adulthood, victims experience greater degrees of unemployment,
issues of self esteem, rage and helplessness)

      A VISION FOR CHILDREN

Children must have the same rights as adults.  Furthermore, when there is evidence of maltreatment and/or endangerment, the needs of the child must be treated as a national priority as children are helpless an cannot possibly defend themselves efficiently.  Reform must be AGGRESSIVE, ONGOING and REQUIRES a FIRM COMMITMENT from ALL COMPONENTS of SOCIETY.  Reform efforts must parallel the task of gathering the appropriate information throughout the new and improved data systems and goals for children can be based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, including, but not limited to; BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD AS PRIORITY, NON DISCRIMINATION IN EFFORTS, LEGAL RIGHT TO SEPARATE FROM PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN WHERE DANGER EXISTS, PROTECTION FROM ABUSE AND NEGLECT, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION, ACCESS TO CARE FOR DISAILITIES, RIGHT TO HEALTH CARE (I'm sick of these religious wack jobs letting their kids die because their religion precludes them from getting medical treatment - this needs to be MURDER ONE) RIGHT TO EDUCATION, LEISURE AND CULTURAL ACTIVITY, FREEDOM FROM CONFLICT

DATABASE

In the case of Tucker Sherman, as well as in most of the thousands of cases I researched over the 18 month study, communities DID, in fact, respond to the threats of violence in the homes on behalf of these children. They fervently tried to do the right thing.  This restored my faith in human beings. It turned my stomoch at the stupidity, laziness and passivity in our system, however.  it's pleading for intervention from law enforcement and children's services.  What happens in this proposed document is once a report is 'made' or generated, it goes to the database/party and creates an immedate follow up for investigation.  It's probably not difficult to imagine that the workload of most social workers is excessive and as much as society has grown weary of stories of mismanagement of files and victims falling through the cracks of inadequate protective systems, the fact remains that social workers and law enforcement cannot possibly be expected to investigate with any great degree of accuracy, every case without the appropriate tools necessary in expediting the task at hand.  THE MISSING TOOL IS A LARGE NATIONAL DATABASE, MUCH LIKE THE ONE USED BY THE DMV.

The database would be created to gather reports from all available systems, including daycare centers, hospitals, physician offices, urgent care centers, schools, private citizens, law enforcement, bus drivers, coaches, and other avenues of society (proven faulty reports of a malicious nature would result in felonious charges to protect both children as well as integrity of the system) and once a child's name was entered more than once, it would immediately trigger an 'urgent follow up response'

Details would be entered into the database which might mean little to the reporting party but as accessed by those educated to pick up 'little details' it might trigger earlier responses, hence, saving lives. (case in point:  Two weeks after Robert Walker, Tucker's killer, moved into the Sherman household, Tucker showed up to school with red dots under his eyes.  the explanation given to the school was that they'd been in a 'fender bender' but the Teacher noted it and called it in as suspicous.  now, had the authorities had the appropriate training, they would have KNOWN that  what was being being described was an attempted choking incident.  In addition, if the red dots (which was in the report) was in a database, the next report that was filed, by the doctor would have flagged it for sure, for the Doctor WAS trained in child abuse and would have noted the symptom at once.  get the point?  Tucker could have been spared with the database, the torture started that second week.

Further, the system could be created with multi-agency access, offering the maximum in firewall protection, harbored with law enforcement agencies within each state, accessible only by a pre-assigned code.

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

Research for this thesis included multiple discussions/interviews with law inforcement, DEA, social workers, victims, abusers, physicians, hospital administrators, plastic surgeons, counselors, daycare providers, bus drivers, parents, teachers, newsaper reporters, nurses, attorneys, ER physicians, ER Administrators, ambulance professionals/EMT's and Tucker's family.    One commonality in these discussions confirmed the suspicion that the current reporting system doesn't seem to 'end up' anywhere and that the dissemination of reported information created a sense of alarm in all who have been involved with abuse prevention in one form or another.  In short, not a single adult disagreed with the gathering of information for the purpose of diagnosis, prevention, treatment and punishment of abuse and felt it should be an immediate priority for the President's Administration to pursue.

Not only would the information save lives, it would create immediate accuracy in studies, benchmarks for improvements, analysis for the purpose of gathering effective data, therefore allowoing the government to properly budget for present and future issues related to incidents of abuse.  If a report is made, a permanent file would be then open to anyone with appropriate access.  It would create a cleaner, easier format for social workers and law enforcement alike and other than its immediate value as a utility tool, becomes documentation for legal services, such as CASA and court cases.  With the appropriate firewalls, the identity and privacy of the child would be protected within reason even while carrying out normal aspects of the job.

REFORM FOR CHILDREN - FOCUS ON THE FAMILY

At present, legal focus is on reunification of the family.  Studies support that at LEAST HALF OF ALL CHILDREN WHO ARE KILLED ANNUALLY BY A PARENT OR CAREGIVER/LEGAL GUARDIAN ARE RETURNED TO THE HOME AT LEAST ONCE BY A JUDGE WHO IGNORED A CASEFILE WITH INFO WARNING THEM OF DANGER TO THE CHILD. This is UNACCEPTABLE AND MUST NOT CONTINUE!!!!!. As Stated earlier, reunification is a great idea but the Disney idea of family only exists in movies these days and the reality is that many homes in America are violent and kids MUST be protected above the 'rights' of parents. period. people gotta get over it - moving on! they are PEOPLE with FEELINGS and FUTURES - not your possessions.

As the environment that victims of abuse are born into is not normally conducive to the family structure as identified as the norm, the need for legal reform has NEVER been greater or more urgent.  As previously stated, the needs of the child as individual persons must be considered as a National priority and urgent issue to pursue.

A CHILD'S RIGHT TO THRIVE

Children who are extracted from their homes for their safety must reserve the right to thrive in society.  this is often difficult for them at first, they often are very loyal to their abuser and want to return over and over, regardless of counseling and logic.  It's a cycle that must be broken. In an effort to completely prepare children for adoption we would propose that children be placed in rehabilitative homes where children would be placed with families prepared to nurture them with their psychosocial needs, their physicial needs, their educational needs, health care, dental care, sports, learning assessments, the arts - anything they need. Kids are our future - they should be treated as such! All kids deserve a chance to grow and thrive and be loved, nurtured, truly cherished for the treasured they are - the blessings and beautiful creatures they can be!

A VISION FOR CHANGE

MEASURABLE OUTCOMES- TRACKING DATA FOR SUCCESS

The information entered into the database creates instant statistics.  this is both  helpful in guarding situations dangerous against their health and safety/well being but also it's imperative in creating benchmarks for analysis, successful initiatives and in making a case when seeking funding.  The long term goal remains the well being and productivity of the child as an empowered, individual human being with the right to thrive and grow into loving, capable and successful adults who do not perpetuate the cycle of abuse with their own future families. Efforts must be made to strive for a society that recognizes and values the worth of all children as worthy human beings.

In order to reach this goal, children must be tracked from the very first report issued on their behalf.  The database is critical to the success of these initiatives and additional resources and channels must be navigated to ensure its' successes including financial and legislative.

A NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR AT-RISK CHILDREN

Presently, inadequate delineation of roles and responsibilities within services rendered on behalf of children is dominant within our society.  This can and MUST change.  Although the first priority must become and remain the safety of the child, efforts within communities must e made to educate young families and professionals, creating appropriate safety nets/measures for accountability, in support of parents before they pose a risk to their own children.

As previously noted, the project must retain its' original focus and framework, even while assuming new goals, leadership and incidental changes. Comments, offers to help in any way/lead or get involved, please feel free to email me at annie.hamilton@gmail.com

I welcome your feedback. With kindest regards,

 SOURCES OF INFORMATION

A few people have wished to remain anonymous but others were helpful.  The best advice I received was from Newt Gingrich's office.  I sent the preliminary draft to Mr. Gingrich who promptly sent it back and said, "you need to attack this from an economic standpoint for anyone to even consider it a true problem' At first I thought him insensitive but over a period of several days, his words sunk in and it hit me suddenly - Kids don't contribute to the economy. Of course! That's why they're not mentioned in the constitution and they're only recognized as an extention as their parents. But do they really not matter? I suppose that's for society to decide. I know they matter to Gingrich and they matter to me.  I rewrote the paper and this has been the result. So, thank you, Newt Gingrich - your hard to hear common sense was helpful!

All in a Week's Work

We have a new president, change has found us whether we wanted it or not.  As an Independent, there are things about the incoming Administration I welcomed and certainly things I dreaded.  Fiscally, I'm a Conservative, think one of the dumbest things that liberals do is to spread the Government out into jobs that are much larger than need be.  Socially, I'm probably more liberal than others and have the sense of humor of a 13 year old boy which freaks others out.

I fail to understand why it was necessary to spend at least $160 million on the Inauguration,   especially while we're in the middle of several wars, in a financial crisis and fighting a major drug crackdown.  Mexico is on the verge of collapse (this was on the news today) and down in Puerto Vallarta, approx every third hotel is boarded up, compliments of the drug cartel, not available for business.  guess what happens if Mexico is run aground?  EVERYONE COMES HERE!!!  that's right. Think/crime is out of control now? wait until that happens. and it probably will.  And now we have a PREZ who is the Softest on crime that our Nation has EVER seen. scary days ahead.'  I'd hate to be a kid or a young female college student.'

Thousands of companies are going out of business because they can't deal with our turd of a system but rather than come up with rational solutions (like decent tax cuts, incentives and other savings plans) they're lining up for short term bail-outs from our new Socialist type welfare system. The latest village idiot to take advantage is Citi and with 'their' bailout, they went out and purchased a brand new luxury Plane...from France!  now that's our taxpayers money well spent! let's spend it in FRANCE!  (retards! - everyone send the dumb-arses at CITI a thank you note!)

One of Obama's first 'Executive' move's was to sign an order, ordering Gitmo to be closed within the year.  Next, he ordered all restrictions on Abortion to be removed.  He's also allowing funding for overseas abortions.  I wonder how he'd feel if one of his daughter's was 8 months pregnant and didn't want to be pregnant any more and he couldn't control it.  and what about the men's rights in this country?  haven't we cut the balls off the men of this country long enough?  now we're murdering their babies up until their due date and giving the no say?  when is enough...well, enough?  we know what both the Torah and Bible say about abortion, what about good old fashioned morals, common sense? why do we love killing babies?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm frustrated with our country.  I agree that we're becoming a welfare nation again and that TARP should really be called TURD...we need to rediscover the value of hard work, learn to respect our elders, to listen to our physicians, our parents, help our neighbors and value our friends.

These bailouts are a bad idea and need to stop. I want to see a system where Democrats, Independents and Republicans come together, once and for all - for the people - without greed, no one with their hand out 'Un-Blago style' (someone put his pathetic butt in jail already!) and get us the hell OUT of this hole before it haunts our generations 300 years from now!

...One Week Counting...!

The Wussification of America

Holy freakin' CRAP - what is Obama thinking, wanting to appoint a retard like Cass Sunstein to any position of authority, let alone one of nearly limitless power!  This will be the undoing of our beautiful nation as we know it!  For those unknowing, 'The One' wants to put this Harvard nutbucket in charge of the White House's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.  As America's Chief 'Regulatory Czar'  uhhhhhh mmmmmyaaaaaaaaah...kkkk.

Why would I say such an 'unkind' thing about Sunstein?  Is he REALLY that bad for America?  Well...let's examine some findings...

Research shows that he's one of the animal rights freak shows, right up there with Pamela Anderson - (this from the Center for Consumer Freedom)  so this anti-meat, PETA lover will likely try to put the brakes on hunting, fishing and anything seen as 'cruel' to animals.  He's against medical testing on animals, is supportive of phasing out human consumption of meat and open to the idea of allowing animals to sue human beings.

For what?  eating animals?

Think I'm kidding?  Google this guy. He's a bonified NUT case.  And to think just a few weeks ago, my biggest concern was a potential single payer system for healthcare and that sucking sound of my taxes going to all the crooks driving into Washington toward their new posts.

Do you smell that?  I think Ted Nugent just peed his pants.

Send 'em Packing, Keep the Plane!!

So the Big three from Detroit (GM, Ford & Chrysler) decide rather than try to wiggle out from their ridiculous Union choke holds (and be like their auto competitors to the South that aren't going broke) they are going to ask old Uncle Sam (and the American People) for an enormous loan that they may (or may not) pay back.  here is why we should send them packing back to Michigan, empty handed:

1. They are WAY behind the times as far as using cleaner, more efficient forms of fuel technologies.

2.  They haven't kept up with other Automobile designers as far as advanced propulsion technologies.  if you think this isn't important, ask yourself why no one isn't coming forward (investors) to 'rescue' these beloved old American companies?  It's simple.  they're not keeping up.  They build old Grandma cars.  Older people might like them, and people who like to drive gas guzzling tanks, but let's face it, they're terrible for the environment and other companies got that message about 20 years ago.  Many have been building trucks and vans that are fuel efficient, cost effective and clean for many years now and their companies are in pretty good shape.  (hint:  they're not located anywhere near Michigan)

3.  Allowing your companies to continue to be under the bullying force of a Union in this day and age when we have legislation and laws that protect Workers is no longer necessary and Unions are extremely damaging to both companies as well as communities.  On average, they're costing $78 per hour for a job that is costing $50 per hour in the South and the contracts, alleged kickbacks and 'favors' and threats that permeate these relationships have threatened these companies and communities throughout Detroit for years.  This has not created a healthy environment for the Auto industry and certainly has added to its' inevitable collapse of today.

4.  The Union healthcare plan should go private - use a blueshield or bluecross plan with a Third party Administrator to Administrate the claims with the capability of each employee putting a portion of their paycheck pre-tax into a vehicle that pays for prescription drugs, co-pays, out of pocket costs or out of area costs with the total amounts able to be written off on the tax form each year.  In addition, the total could also alter the tax bracket, ultimately lowering the employee's overall liability, which is a nice plus.  The Union doesn't always offer this and they should not have a say.  This should be set by federal law, not Union opinion.  get rid of the Union. this can be done by court, set with the chapter 11.

I've given a few reasons above why the Courts should deny federal funding for the Big Three - but should also step in and Force the Unions to terminate all agreements with the Auto industries in Detroit.  All of them.  Bring in Experts, renegotiate all agreements, re-do them, so that the design, fuel injection capability, body size is more in keeping with what is happening with 'American Style' and not the style of the 70's.  If I were their Attorney, I'd also explain to them that it's not a good idea to keep the current plan of rolling out a new Hummer in two years that gets six miles to the gallon.  Who in the hell is going to drive that?  What a dumb idea!  But More importantly, I'd explain, a little more sternly to my clients, that when attending a Congressional hearing, with your hand out, FOR a hand out, it's not a good idea to show up in a private plane that is being funded by the American people.

It just doesn't look right.  And why should WE pay for it??

Deepak's stupid sandwich

In a recent Washington Post editorial, Deepak Chopra suggests that Americans should keep 'God' out of the polling booths.  I realize that he is entitled to his opinion, but can't believe this overly pampered yoga-twit is suggesting American's check their values at the door just because he seems to live (and get paid) to live in a fantasy world filled with junk science and feel good theories about human existence.

People, I realize that most people would rather read Oprah inspired crap and watch reality television than think but regardless of how much brainwashing Dr. Chopra does, we are still a nation under GOD, not false misleading self-worship.

Thank Goodness almost half of America agrees with me.
